"To Kill A Mockingbird"

11/24/15
Book: "To Kill A Mockingbird"
Prompt: You will be selecting a photograph that represents your idea of Maycomb, AL based on Harper Lee’s description. Incorporating the different criteria from the Visual Literacy Guide, write a thoughtful, thorough, and well constructed response relating the photograph to Maycomb, AL. Make sure to include: The image of the photograph you have selected for analysis (make sure to cite your photograph.) Your written analysis.

Based on my observations of this picture, it seems that this could describe the setting of the novel, "To Kill A Mockingbird." In the novel the setting is decribed like this, "...People moved slowly then. They ambled across the square, shuffled in and out of the stores around it, took their time about everything. A day was twenty-four hours long but seemed longer..." This quote explains the setting of the book.

The picture is similar to the setting because it seems that the people in the picture shown above are not waiting for anything they are just hanging around that place. It also seems like everything is going by slow. This relates to the quote above because my observation states that everything seems to be going by slow just as the quote states.

  1. Nick - You only use one piece of textual evidence here. You do not provide a strong case for the connection between this picture and Maycomb. Please revise.
